Mobile check deposit is a quick and easy way to deposit checks into your account without having to visit to your bank. Not sure how it works or if it’s safe? Let us break down how useful this mobile banking feature can be.
Mobile check deposit allows you to deposit checks from your home or on the go without having to make a trip to the bank, drive-through or ATM. The types of checks you can deposit can range from bank to bank so make sure to check with your bank’s policies first. However, most banks allow personal checks, business checks, cashier’s checks and government issued checks (like stimulus checks or tax refunds).
To deposit a check, simply download your bank’s mobile banking app (ours can be found here) and create a login. Next, click the mobile deposit feature. Sign the back of the check with your name and add “For mobile deposit only at” and follow with your bank’s name. Choose the account to make the deposit into. Enter the check amount and take a photo of the front and back of your check using your phone’s camera. Review the details and click deposit. Hold onto your check until you see that it’s deposited into your account. Then shred.
But wait! Is it safe? Short answer, yes. If you’re concerned about protecting your banking information online, we can assure you that mobile banking is just as secure as other online and mobile banking functions. In fact, Farmers & Merchants Bank uses encryption and enhanced security measures to help ensure your deposit is safe and secure.
When making a mobile deposit, funds typically aren’t available instantly. Each bank varies, but at FMB, mobile deposits are available next business day, and we have a $5000 limit per check (with a per day and rolling limit—contact us for details). We have no fees or limits on the number of checks you can deposit per day, week, or month through mobile deposit.
