Military Consumer Month
News
Jul. 03, 2025

Every July, Military Consumer Month focuses on helping service members, veterans, and military families protect their finances and stay informed about scams, fraud and money management.
Launched by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and supported by government agencies, nonprofits, and financial institutions, this awareness campaign highlights the unique financial challenges the military community often faces- and offers tools to address them.
Why it Matters
Military life comes with frequent moves, deployments, and changes in income, which can make financial planning more complicated. Unfortunately, it also makes military families frequent targets for scammers. Military consumers reported losing $584 million to fraud in 2024 — an enormous loss.
Military Consumer Month raises awareness about scams that target service members and promotes safe financial practices, especially online. It also shares resources for managing money, credit, and debt, while encouraging fraud reporting to help prevent future losses.
